Almost Christmas Time

So here it is, less than two weeks until Christmas. Is everyone ready? I’m sure not. I still have so many presents to buy. Now, I don’t even know if I’m going to have the day off work. The boss said I was, but that’s changed because of something the Assistant Manager needs to do that day. I’m pretty angry, because this is the first Christmas I’m going to get to spend with my mom in 20 years. If she ruins this for me, I’m probably going to hate her forever.

Changing Of The Seasons

So now, we bid adieu, to the great warm days and nights of summer. Time for Autumn thoughts. Halloween, leaves changing colors, raking, cool nights. All great things, but, I would enjoy them more if I wasn’t such a freeze baby.

First Day Of School

Sent Benjamin off for his first day of second grade. He’s very excited. At least he was, when we were walking to school. We’ll see how long that lasts.

He’ll only have to walk for a little while. When we get out property taxes back, we’ll pay for the bus, and then I won’t have to worry about him getting back and forth to school any more.

The Dog Rallies

In my last post, I was lamenting the fact that my poor old Pit Bull might be at the end of her life. We took her to the Vet on Monday, June 6, fully expecting to have to Euthanize her. Didn’t happen.

The Vet is of the mind that she has some kind of swelling on her brain, from what, we don’t really know. Possibly a stroke. Anyways, we were given some steroids to reduce the swelling. If Dixie herselff, hadn’t proved to us that she wasn’t ready to give up yet, we would have put her down right then and there.

If, after 3 weeks, the steroids don’t seem to be helping, Euthanasia will be our one and only option.

What Do You Do?

What do you do when you find out that your older animal is probably suffering from some kind of neurological breakdown? How do you handle it? The Vet gives you some medicine to boost their brain power, but how long do you wait before you decide it’s time for the inevitable?

I don’t know for sure, but I’m about to find out. Yesterday (May 26, 2011) we found out that our older (almost 10), female Pit Bull is probably suffering from some kind of neurological breakdown. Very rough, because we just had to put another dog down two months ago because she had cancer. We were given some medicine that’s supposed to help her. I’m not sure how long I can watch her deteriorate. What would you do? Would you give the medicine a chance, or just decide to put the dog down?
